History of the Choir:

• The municipal choir was created in 1993, under the supervision of Yianna Thalassinou.
• The members are pensioners of Agios Dhometios with a passion in music and group work.
• The choir includes 50 official members who rehearse on a regular basis and perform in municipal and other events.

 

Some events that the choir participated were:

Social Events:

• 1999 - Marios Tokas performance against the Tyrkish occupation of the Northern Cyprus
• June 1995 - Performed for the A' Cyprus Choir Festival of the Municipal of Lakatamia

Excange Programs:

• 25th of March (Ethnic Holiday) 1997 - In the excange porgram with the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos in Crete.
• 1st of April (Ethnic Holiday) 2001 - In the excange porgram with the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos in Crete.

Carnivals:

• Every year the choir sings on a decorated vehicle that drives around the city.

Abroad:

• 20th of July 1998 - Performed in Rhode passing the message of hope and peace for our occupied land.
• 2000 - Performed in Slovakia with the Academic Tempus Choir
• July 2002 - Performed in Tsech for the Cypriot Immigrants
